The sighting of the New moon – Commencement of Ramadan Sharif.

Moon Sighting for Ramzan 1438 Hijri
Moon Sighting for Ramadan 1438 Hijri

The next new moon will occur on Thursday May 25th 2017 at 19:44 GMT/UT.
The timing of May’s (Ramadan) new moon means that a sighting of the new crescent Moon is unlikely to take place anywhere in the world on Thursday May 25th. The earliest telescopic sighting of the new crescent moon may be possible on Friday May 26th from the eastern half of Australia followed by Papua New Guinea, easternmost Indonesia and the northern part of the Philippines Archipelago (Luzon). The first visibility of the crescent Moon with the naked eye under excellent conditions occurs on the same day, first over westernmost Java followed by Sumatra, Sri Lanka, southern India and most of the Arabian Peninsula. Easier sightings of the new crescent moon should be possible on May 26th from Reunion, Madagascar, Africa except the northern and easternmost parts, the Americas except Canada and the islands of the eastern Pacific Ocean region. The remaining parts of the world should be able to make their sightings on Saturday May 27th. We would therefore ask observers to make their sightings of the new crescent Moon between May 25th and May 27th .

Crescent Moon Visibility of Ramadan 1438 AH- A graphical view!

The crescent visibility map below for Ramadan 1438 shows that moon will be born on 25 May 2017 at 19:44 GMT/UT, but it may not be visible by the naked-eye anywhere in the UK/Morocco region on that date. However, on 26 May 2017 the moon will be easily visible in most countries of the world. Hence, the month of Ramadan is most likely to start from 27 May 2017, Insha-Allah!!!
